Secret food vices

I write a fair share of posts about eating local, seasonal and unprocessed. The truth is, I think everything is good in moderation. Today, I will discuss:

What is (are) my secret food vice (s)?

Well, to start off, I love peanut M&Ms. Love to snack on them while I write blogs, love to sneak them while helping the kids get ready for bed, love to eat them with popcorn in the movies. Brings me to my second vice.

Movie popcorn. What the heck do they put in that butter? It is amazingly addictive. I actually purchased a bucket at the movies several months ago, and now when I go I can get it refilled for $3. Sometimes I have it filled twice.

In-N-Out Burgers. Not sure I put these into the processed category, but they are definitely something that is better in moderation. Last time we went, we googled the secret menu beforehand and I ordered my cheeseburger with a whole grilled onion, which was delightful.

A bag of Stacy’s pita chips is usually in the cupboard; I like to dive into the bag and dig out the thin crispy ones.

Trader Joe’s dark chocolate covered almonds with sea salt and turbinado sugar are another favorite, but I am off those for a year while the braces do a number on my teeth. Fortunately, I also love Reese’s peanut butter cups and will subsist on those for the next 12 months instead. Guess where I found a huge stash? My kids Halloween candy bags!

Super good quality ice cream; like Clover or Three Twins or one of those 5 ingredient types. I like it super cold, hard as a rock.

Gosh, how could I forget frozen Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. Used to be I would inhale an entire package. Nowadays I am satisfied with one or two. Progress I say!

I will almost always order french fries when I see them on a menu of a fancy gastro-pub type place. I especially like them along mussels in white wine. I am a sucker for almost anything chocolate, except when the chocolate items are clearly not made in the restaurant, then I am totally turned off.

Mostly when I was pregnant, I was known to eat powdered donuts by the handful, as well as golf course hot dogs (round of golf not necessary). These items are not featured in my diet these days, must have been one of those pregnancy cravings.

What is on your secret vice list? Any foods you find yourself sneaking around to eat? Come on, fess up!
